In the landmark year of 2015, ecommerce progressed in leaps and bounds. There were many surprises, some shocking some expected. The ecommerce trinity – Flipkart, Amazon, Snapdeal – continued to surprise us, be it through advertisements, offers or launches.
But the most interesting development was probably the re-entry of Paytm in the list of top ecommerce players. And that’s not what we are saying, even online consumers seem to think so. According to the latest survey by Cashkaro, “People’s Choice Awards 2015”, Amazon is consumers’s favourite shopping destination (probably no surprises there). But Paytm has quietly (or was it?) secured the second spot pushing ecommerce giant Flipkart to second runner up.
On the survey Rohan Bhargava – Co-Founder, CashKaro.com said,
“The ‘People’s Choice Survey’ is an annual report by CashKaro.com which identifies key trends of the year in the Indian e-commerce industry. This year the industry was abuzz with Ambanis, Birlas joining the e-commerce race, Mobile App based hyper-local services like BigBasket, Grofers, Practo UrbanClap, seeing a surge and more. Also, with e-retailers heavily promoting their own shopping festivals it comes as no surprise that Google ended GOSF – the online shopping festival which ruled in the past. According to the survey Flipkart’s Big Billion Day was regarded as the best online shopping festival while Amazon.in wore the crown of the most popular e-commerce site. Cashback & Deals are still the favored factor to shop online among users.”
